April, 2015 - Land Purchase.

TFCO currently operates out of five different buildings with over 31,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehouse and office space. Although we plan to combine our spaces in the future, we make our current set-up work for us. Because of our desire to move all operations into one building or to a central area, TFCO has purchased a 1.4 acre parcel of wooded land adjacent to two of our existing buildings. This purchase brings the land area owned to a total of almost six acres of land. This land is located inside the city limits of La Porte, Indiana. Work clearing this land for future us has already begun.

January, 2015 - Flat Bed Printer

Several of our customers have expressed an interest in printing their private identification on our PTFE Sheet product. This product, PTFE sheet, is unique to TFCO's printing abilities because it is very large when compared to the other items that we private label print. TFCO purchased a flatbed printer capable of printing on PTFE sheets as large as 5’ x 10’. This fully graphic printer can U/V print almost any design or information directly onto PTFE sheet.

March, 2014 - Electronic Winder Conversion

Although our traverse winding machine for PTFE Specialty tape was still in excellent condition, it was a manual machine. This prevented us from doing some of the more sophisticated winds required by some customers. This upgrade required sending our winder back to the manufacturer to have it converted to a completely electronic winder. This conversion allowed us to have complete control over every winding head which permits incremental offsets and step packs.

May, 2013 - Production Label Printer

As with many manufacturing companies, TFCO relied on outside vendors to provide labels for our products. The spool label vendor that we purchase from is one of the best in the industry. Their workmanship, quality and lead times are excellent; however, we require literally thousands of labels in different colors, shapes and sizes. Because of this necessity as well as our in-house ability to print directly onto the product, we realized the need to vertically integrate. TFCO then purchased a production printer allowing us to manufacture the majority of spool labels in-house. This purchase, when coupled with our ability to design custom spool labels for our products and private labels for our customers, has provided TFCO with an opportunity to better control costs and shorten lead times. This upgrade project was so successful that we decided to purchase a different type of printer which is capable of producing vivid color labels to satisfy the majority of our square and rectangle “box” label requirements. Created designs can be sent directly to this printer making these labels instantly available in any desired quantity.

August, 2012 - Pallet Stretch Wrapper.

As TFCO continued to gain market share, the need to prepare skids of material for shipment increased to a point where our existing equipment needed revamping. To accommodate this need, we purchased and installed an automatic pallet stretch wrap machine. This process ensures that the shipment of our product arrives safely at our customer’s destination.

February, 2012 - Pad Printer

For some time, TFCO has offered direct spool printing thus eliminating the need to apply printed labels directly to each thread sealant spool. Existing equipment was generally able to keep up with the demand because most of our customers still prefer the have a label applied directly to the top of the spool; however, ever increasing demand for printed spools placed a burden on existing equipment. To enhance our ability to produce printed spools, TFCO announced the purchase and installation of a new, high speed pad printing machine complete with a redesign of our existing printing production line. This new equipment doubled our production capabilities.

This allows us to exceed demand and lower our per piece cost. In addition, this machine utilizes a U/V drying process and U/V inks which also lower our environmental footprint.
